Miss Porter's School Student Rebecca Surprenant Competes at Harvard Model United Nations

2014 Feb 24

Rebecca Surprenant was one of 24 Miss Porter's School Model United Nations members who recently traveled to Boston to compete at the annual Harvard Model United Nations (HMUN), a four-day international relations simulation for high school students. At the conference, students acted as delegates participating in various bodies in the United Nations. Porter's students cooperated and debated with students from around the world to develop plans to solve problems based on current global issues.

"[HMUN] is a great experience for the girls to meet young people from new cultures and viewpoints, where they can develop leadership and communication skills," shares Math Teacher Dan Bradshaw, advisor to Porter's Model U.N.

HMUN is held annually in downtown Boston. The 2014 conference was attended by more than 3,000 students from around the world.
